Typical Carter...{flashback}

There is never a dull moment with Carter and Scott and I have soooo many stories that we can't wait to one day share with his future bride (Lord help her). Today, as we were putting the finishing touches on our exterior Halloween decor, I was reminded of one of my very favorite Carter stories....

Eight years ago, I bought these really cool "BOO" candle holders at the Eddie Bau.er Home store. The first Halloween that I put them on the porch, a neighborhood kid accidentally kicked one and broke an "O". The day after Halloween, I went back to EB and found another set on clearance. Score! Fast forward to the following year. Right before trick-or-treaters started to arrive, I remembered the candles and I asked Carter (age 6) to run to the basement and set them up outside. Nothing is ever as it should be with him :) This is what we found....
I don't know about your family...but in our house, nothing says Happy Halloween like boob!

Daddy Knows Best

Yesterday, Brady tried to open his popsicle like this.....

And ended up losing this.....
Which made him say this....."guess you were right dad. You always tell me if I keep opening popsicles with my teeth, I'm going to bust one out." Unfortunately the lesson was lost on him...the tooth fairy left three bucks.

Random Stuff

I'm so ready for October to be over. This fall has totally kicked my butt. Seven soccer practices a week and at least five games every weekend has left me one very exhausted soccer mom. Of course, in a few months, I'll be begging mother nature to deliver warm weather and I'll promise "to never complain about the heat and my kids sports again". Vicious cycle.

Kids were off Thursday/Friday for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Bennett and Brady's went great...awesome grades, awesome kids, blah blah blah. I didn't go to Carter's (first time ever). I figure being married to his teacher is my free pass to skip. We ended up spending some time at the park.

******************************************************************************
Cate has been pacifier free for a few months now. She's two so it shouldn't be shocking, however, her brothers were all over the age of four before they gave theirs up. So weird that now when I see older kids with pacifiers, I think it looks silly. What a hypocrite I am! However, my worst fears have been realized and Cate has become a thumb sucker! Not all the time, but when she's watching tv or tired in the car, she has her thumb in her mouth. The boys are freaking out about this...almost as much as Scott :)
****************************************************************************
There was a hawk visiting our tree this week. It was trying to eat squirrels. We had to keep Murphy inside. Hawk eating squirrels=cool entertainment. Hawk eating your dog=traumatized children.

****************************************************************************
On Friday, we went to the Relleke's for a bonfire and hayride. They own a pumpkin farm, so halfway through the ride, they set everyone free in the fields and we picked pumpkins til the beer ran out :)

Bennett has been chosen as "Student of the Week" next week and gets to decorate an entire bulletin board with whatever he wants. He has his swim ribbons and pictures ready to hang up on Monday. For the "most favorite things" part, he's bringing in this bad boy.....

State Championship trophy!

This is to prove that Carter does still exist..he's just way too cool to hang out with us anymore

Happy Last Week Of October!!!!!

Then and Now

Three weeks ago, Brady brought home a homework assignment from his kindergarten class. He was to decorate an "All About Me T-shirt". It was due yesterday so they could hang them in the hallways for parent/teacher conferences this week. We finished the project at 10pm Sunday night. Great habits we're teaching our kids, I know. Anyway, he needed a family picture on his poster and of course we have none, so we set the timer on my camera and hoped for the best. He had a similar project last year in preschool and today I dug out that group photo from my photo archives. Funny that we're in the same pose and even the same order! Although this year, we were all suffering from fresh sunburns after sitting through seven soccer games over the weekend. And I'm shocked I was still smiling... I ran a 10k that morning, made it to all three boys soccer games, and went grocery shopping!Bennett has less hair, Carter has much darker hair, Cate actually has hair, and Brady is still smiley!
One big happy family!

Day 39

We are on day 39 of the Minnie Mouse jammies. For real. Now that it's getting colder, she just wears pants on under them. They're never going to make it til our January trip to Disney :)

"My Fwiends Come Over on Tuesday"

Cate says this a zillion times everyday. And then she asks "When's Tuesday?" She loves being with Gabby/Gacie (like it's one name).
And who wouldn't love hangin' with their best girls a few times a week?

Especially when there's lots of "Ring Around The Rosie" fun on the trampoline!

Homecoming 2010

Tuesday night was the highschool Homecoming Parade and Powder Puff game. Annie had a soccer game, so Scott drove her convertible in the parade..haha. Ben and Brady sat up front with him and Cate and I sat along the parade route anxiously waiting for them to pass. Carter and his friends ended up with us too (but not close enough for people to know they were with us) .

Cate's Choice

After dragging Cate to six soccer games in two days, we let her choose a few things she wanted to do. Pumpkin patch and the zoo were her top requests.
Lots of construction at the zoo. They tore out the entire sea lion pool and are rebuilding it bigger and better. To be finished in 2012!!!!
