10 days...

10 days ago my biggest worry was how I was going to get my kids to all of their baseball and soccer games and practices.  Then I get a phone call from my sister saying my dad is really sick and next thing you know, all hell breaks loose.  What started with trouble breathing, quickly escalated to a quadruple-bypass surgery, followed by endless complications and now my dad is sedated in the CICU at Barnes Hospital fighting for his life.  The last 10 days have been one huge emotional rollercoaster.  And now we play the waiting game...hoping they can get him stable enough to explore surgical options to fix his heart...or at least give it help so he can recover.  You can follow this journey at www.caringbridge.org/visit/jimengelke
